Isuzu Trooper Engine
Isuzu Troopers are classified as first and second generations. Troopers produced
from 1985-1991 belongs to the first generation while models formally introduced
from 1992 onwards belong to the second generation. Carbureted engines are used
by '84-'87 Troopers.'88 comes with a 2.6l MPFI engine. A 2.6l MPFI 4 cylinder
engine or the 2.8l TBI V-6 is used by '89-'91 models. Paired with either the single
overhead cam or dual overhead cam configuration is the 3.2l MPFI V-6 engine for
'92-'98 Troopers.
2000 comes fitted with a 3.5-liter double overhead-cam V6 engine capable of producing
215 horsepower. Four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive versions are available paired
with either the five-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmissions.
The three trim levels for 2001 are equipped with the same engine and are all offered
with two- or four-wheel drive. 2WD are paired with a four-speed automatic transmission
while the 4WD can be used with a five-speed manual gearbox.
